David Ball Group PLC produces a wide range of industrial sands. Specialist sands are produced and packaged to suit many specific applications. Below is a brief description of some of the sands that are produced.
CALIBRATION, VIBRATION, HAMMER
BS 598-104:2005
Standard test sand for BS 598-104:2005 for the determination of density and compaction in bituminous mixtures.
HOT TEST GRIT / HOT TEST SAND
BS 598-108:1990
Standard test sand to BS 598-108:1990. Sand to 3.2.0 and grit to 3.2.2 for determination of the condition of the binder on coated chippings and for measurement of the rate of spread of coated chippings.
AAV TEST
BS 812-113:1990
Standard test aggregate to BS 812-113:1990. Coarse sand 6.1 (abrasive) and fine sand to 6.3 to measure the resistance of aggregate to surface wear (AAV).
FROST HEAVE
BS 812-124:1989
Standard test aggregate to BS 812-124:1989 used in determination of frost heave.
REPLACEMENT DENSITY SAND
BS 1377-9:1990
Standard sand for in-stiu soil testing, sand replacement method in accordance with BS 1377-9:1990. Complying with Clause 2.1.3 and Clause 2.2.3.
STANDARD FEFERENCE MATERIALS

Fractions A to E 2.36mm to 90um.
Standard Course Aggregate 5mm – 10mm.
To be used for making Concrete Cubes for Testing Cement.

Sand patch sand in the determination of textured depth of bituminous pavements.
CEN PACK
BS EN 196-1:2005
Standard sand for strength determination of cement to EN 196-1:2005.
FIBRE SAND
Quartz Silica sand for man-made fibres. Used un filtering hot, molten pre-spun textile filament.

FUSE SAND
High purity Silica Sand for electric fuse manufacture.
Low iron (Fe2O3) low alkali, kiln dried and closely graded.
