History

David Ball Group plc produces a wide range of industrial sands in its' factory at Bar Hill, Cambridge. Special sands are produced and packaged to suit many specific applications. The rigorous demands of international standards are met at all stages of production.

Sand results from the abrasion of rocks by natural and geological processes. Their value to the user depends upon the purity, size and shape of the grains. Natural sands are selected for their chemical and physical characteristics so that, after washing, drying and grading, they meet the particular specifications laid down in Standards and in those others requested by customers. Sands are used by many industries, primarily for cement testing, water filtration and electric fuse filing. Other uses include fluidised bed media, fillers, sand blasting, soil testing, casting and in the horticultural and chemical industries.
